  • Training To Increase Job Prospects

    Date: 2012.10.17 | Category: Language Courses | Response: 0

Getting training to advance your career and open up new opportunities is a great idea, and has been the starting point for many people’s success. Sometimes this can happen through work schemes, but what is more likely is that you will have to do it as an extra course and try to fit it in around your life.

If you are out of work it can be easier to fit the training in, but it can be difficult to afford the courses that you want to do. Another problem is that if you start a more intensive course, it could interfere with looking for work, making it harder to attend interviews and ultimately start work.

Fortunately there are plenty of courses across the UK which are held locally and can often be enrolled on for relatively small amounts of money. Sometimes you can get huge discounts if you are on qualifying benefits such as jobseekers allowance or housing benefits.

Getting in touch with your local school, college or university can be the easiest way to see what courses are on offer, even just checking out their websites will give you an idea of what there is. If you are looking to get money off if you are out of work, it is best to enquire in person or over the telephone to see if you are eligible for subsidized learning.

Many courses that are put on in evenings and weekends are aimed more at those who are working who want to bolster the skills they already have, or those who want to increase their skills in a field as a hobby. Luckily there are often courses available which cater for those who want to try something completely new or improve their grades from school or college. The latter are those which are most often subsidized and can improve the job prospects of those whose qualifications (or lack of) may be holding them back.

Many of the courses available can be done from home or in local academic centres. These are often government run and are available for everyone who did not get the best out of school.

Of course, for those in work it can still apply and improving your skills is always a great thing to do; to help increase promotion opportunities and feel better about yourself. If you want to get onto a course but cannot afford the fees straight away, it can be a good idea to get in touch with payday loan lenders who can help rectify and cash flow problems you may be having.

  • Leaving Education and Getting That Job

    Date: 2012.10.10 | Category: Language Courses | Response: 0

We get taught how to do most of the major things in life. When we are learning to walk, we do it over and over again with our parents help until we master it, we learn to drive with an instructor, and we are taught the lessons that we need to learn at school to pass exams. But when it comes to getting a job, one of the most important things in anyone’s life, we are just left to it and expected to know what it takes to ace an interview.

If the thought of an interview makes your knees turn to jelly and all of the words fall out of your head then you’re not alone. Most people don’t know what to do when it comes to interviews, and failing to prepare is preparing to fail. This is why more and more people, especially graduates who are new to the world of work, are considering interview coaching and all of the benefits that it can bring.

Interview coaches are normally people that have had experience in recruitment or HR, and have interviewed many different candidates for positions. Sharing the benefit of that experience they will be able to tell you what employers will be looking for, as well as how best to sell yourself under the pressure of an interview situation. You will normally go through a mock interview, followed by a feedback session, and you can tailor the experience to the kind of jobs that you will be going for.

Once you know how an interviewer thinks, you will be able to better understand the kind of answers that will really impress them, and as with most things, practice really does make perfect.

Not only can this really boost your confidence, but by being prepared you will come across a lot better at interviews and learn how to ask intelligent questions. You really don’t want to leave something as important as getting a job that you really want, to chance alone and coaching is the best way for you to prepare yourself for what lies ahead. Good luck!!

  • Language Courses

    Date: 2012.10.08 | Category: Language Courses | Response: 0

Language courses are a viable option for people looking to increase their career prospects, fancy a change of scene, or just want to learn something new. Whether looking to undertake French language courses, German language courses or in fact a course in almost any language, it can be an enjoyable experience as well as one which will provide you with a skill for life.

Being able to speak a modern language has great value on the job market, and a proficiency or even fluency in a foreign language can be achieved through a foreign language course. By making yourself a valuable asset to a company on an international level, you can increase not only your chances of finding a job, but of progressing up the ranks of your chosen profession in quick, valuable and interesting ways.

Of course, learning a language has other, less mercenary benefits. Just to be more relaxed on holiday, perhaps to go further off the beaten track, or to travel the world for longer, can all be made easier by learning more of a foreign language. It can certainly make life easier on the locals, which will in turn make life easier on the traveler!

But learning a language can just be an end unto itself. Imagine being able to read the works of famous poets and writers in their native language? To understand foreign films without watered down dubbing or abbreviated subtitles? The language we speak influences greatly how we think; learning another one can open you up to whole new possibilities you may never have thought of before.

  • How Important is IT in Schools?

    Date: 2012.09.26 | Category: Language Courses | Response: 0

Computers are being used in schools in a way that they never have been before, and to great effect. They are believed to encourage greater inclusion and interest amongst pupils and there is little doubt that computers are an invaluable aid to teachers. Some say- they will one day be their replacement, though at the present time it doesn’t seem to be a likely scenario (thank goodness says this teacher!).

Time has been called for the humble blackboard

When I first started teaching we had the chalk board or an overhead projector- which was seen as the height of technology. Children were encouraged to work their way through exercises which I took home at the end of every day, and marked for them. The classroom of today is a very different place, the blackboards (or whiteboards of more recent times) are being replaced with a large flat screen computer monitor, attached to the wall with a TV bracket, and increasingly, laptops and desktop computers are being used to teach and assess children in a normal classroom setting.

The instant benefit of having a computer monitor instead of a blackboard is that the teacher has instant access to an array of electronic resources, which can only be beneficial for children’s learning and understanding. I don’t know if you have had the same problem- as a teacher I often tried to draw a diagram or graph, the inaccuracy of which was embarrassing, and I know that on more than one occasion the point I was trying to make was lost under the giggles at my poor attempts. With an interactive computer screen, I can prepare my resources and they will appear on the board with a double click. And with the aid of this technology, gone also is the inaccuracy. If there is something else that I have overlooked, I can search the internet and immediately display the answer to any unexpected questions for the whole class. It is an absolute lifesaver.

The flexibility and scope for imaginative teaching is really endless and has resulted in a rethink by many teachers of how best to teach their lessons. It is difficult to see any down sides to the introduction of technology, it saves a teachers time, allowing them to focus more on the lesson planning and keeping their pupils engaged. I welcome any further developments, and believe that in the hands of a good teacher, IT is an absolute blessing to children everywhere.
