General
Windsor TEFL Candidates must complete and pass the course elements below to the required standard to obtain the Trinity TESOL Certificate at Windsor TEFL:
- an awareness of the main features of pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary of contemporary English.
- an awareness of the major features of language teaching
- an awareness of learning needs in different situations
- an elementary understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of different teaching approaches and methods
- the ability to plan lessons of different types using published and authentic materials
- the ability to take on board and respond to advice and criticism from trainers
- successful completion of all modules of the course
All course units as stipulated in the Pre-Course pack and Handbook.
All candidates should be aware that subscription to the course does not guarantee successful completion and failure to meet the required standards will lead to failure or referral.
Qualifications and Standard of English Before the Course
Candidates should have a good level of English to undertake the Trinity TESOL Certificate at Windsor TEFL. The following qualifications are deemed to be among (but not solely) the criteria for inclusion on the course. Please e-mail us if you need further information about entry on to the course.
Cambridge ESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English
Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English
IELTS band 7 or above
TOEFL score 600 (paper-based)/250 (computer-based)
Candidates' level of English will be assessed again during the course to see that they have good prospects for completion of all modules and advice about this will be sent to Candidates in writing (only) if they seem unlikely to reach the required standard.
Course Duration and Course Extensions
Windsor TEFL candidates have 4 weeks (Full-Time) or 4 months (Part-Time) to fully complete the course. After this period expires (taken from the point of registration and payment) to be entered on to a later course can be purchased at a extra administration fee which is worked out on a basis proportionate to the extension required.
The Windsor TEFL Course will be extended in direct proportion to the extension of time agreed with the Windsor TEFL Panel.
Not Making the Grade - Referrals
Candidates' work and performance will be taken in to consideration by Windsor TEFL Panel when assessing either a failure of the Course or a referral. These definitions will be examined on a case by case basis rather than by a pre-defined formula. However Trinity College London have the overall decision on whether to pass or refer a trainee. However Windsor TEFL reserve the right not to present a trainee for Moderation should they not reach a standard as set by Windsor TEFL and Trinity.
- Reimbursements of Fees (definitions)
- After interview has been conducted deposits are NOT refundable. However if more than 5 weeks prior to a course start Windsor TEFL will make ONE change to a different date or location (depending on availability).
- The balance of course fees are NOT refundable inside 5 weeks of course commencement.
- Anyone wishing to withdraw from a course having paid the full fees will have been deemed to have made a formal decision to secure their place in advance and therefore no refund will be given.
Transfer of Courses/Course Fees
Under individual circumstances Windsor TEFL may transfer course fees/registrations from one applicant to another. This will only be done on a case by case basis and will be subject to scrutiny by the Windsor TEFL Panel. If you wish to make such a transfer please e-mail Windsor TEFL stating your reasons in full.
Course Places
It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure that once they have paid a deposit or full fees a formal email confirmation be sent out. If an applicant finds that a course place has not been secured or were omitted from the system the applicant will accept that a formal confirmation had not been sought.
If an instance should occur then a different course date or location will be offered or a full refund requested. Any extra costs incurred will not be funded by Windsor TEFL.
Complaints Procedure
Complaints about any aspect of the Windsor TEFL Course or any Windsor TEFL Staff or Management must be submitted in writing please to Windsor TEFL, 21 Osborne Road, Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 3EG, England. |
